His bestselling work Where Good Ideas Come From: The Natural History of Innovation, was a finalist for the 800CEORead award for best business book of the year, and was ranked as one of the year’s best books by The Economist. He was chosen by Prospect magazine as one of the Top Ten Brains of the Digital Future.

Johnson is a contributing editor to Wired magazine and was the 2009 Hearst New Media Professional-in-Residence at The Journalism School, Columbia University. He has also written for The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Nation, and many other periodicals.

Drawing on a dazzling array of disciplines that reflect his deep understanding of scientific progress and sharp sensitivity to contemporary online trends, Johnson offers unmatched insight into how ideas emerge and spread and how they affect the world today. He considers breakthroughs as different as Darwin’s theories of evolution and the rise of YouTube, in order to analyze what these moments have in common and what environments fostered these ideas. Based on his research he will reveal a core set of innovation principles that have encouraged creativity across history and a practical guide to making any space more innovation-friendly.
